radio

The idea behind these sketches is a radio where the outer covering consists of fabrics and textiles. This hopefully results in a radio that is warmer and more personal than traditional radios made out of metal and plastics. There is also an element of customisability with the outer covering; in graphics, materials and colours to further emphasize the personal aspect of the radio. It will be a slightly more expensive radio ($80?) that is made to last. It is aimed at those living in or around cities who listen to the radio while walking.

Great attempt to try and steer away from the whole plastic approach, very different. However, have you thought about the fragility of the overall radio? ie; the fabric can easily get caught, get damaged etc?
love the idea though!

I think I would compare it with a wallet. Depends on the fabrics of course.

I also like the idea of the fabric. But how is the radio constructed underneith the fabric? Is it just a plastic radio with some fabric wrapped around it or is there more to it than that? Also, fabric is a flexible material (depending on what it is), maybe you could incorporate its flexitivity into the design somehow?

Great idea not using the conventional idea of plastic radios etc. Though being a fabric wouldn't it lose some of its durability? as compared to plastic could easily be ripped n what not, and being a fabric you could really make the design very curved and flowing which you cant easily do with plastic, Great work though

some other fabrics could be durable - I'm thinking shoes, crumpler bags etc.

Don't forget the breif - requirement for a moulded back component - this could be under the bag. I agree with Marco - I'd like to see what's under the bag too.
