Okay, so here is a concept im currently working on. Aimed for indoor use, ive focused more on the form rather than the function of the radio. The curve of the central section contains the digital display and the three primary buttons; on/off, tuner, volume control. The radio has dual speakers, allowing for better clarity.

cool idea, i love the fact that its more of a sculpture than just a radio..im not sure if u were already planning this in the 'digital display' section, but i think having a clock or such would give the radio a double duty, and make it seem really appropriate for sitting on the bench or shelf in the home

nice, i like the simplicity of the three main functioning bottons, i also like the top photo of your sketchs where you filled the page but had the main idea in pen making it stand out. Maybe you could have the speakers sliding in under the main body of the design when turned off, for protection and as a clear indication for when it is off and on.
