This is one of my concepts i'm now working on. I love the idea of a radio that has form as its main feature and the function secondary. Thus more of a sculpture that will sit in ones living room or bedroom as an addition to the feel and style of the room. Hence with this concept i have worked with the idea of shape and form alot. For this concept i got inspiration from how you can wrap a straight object around in on itself, like a snap ruler for example. This concept will look as if it is unbalanced and about to fall over but thanks to some nice weighting within the base will defy gravity to some extent. Also the casing for the entire piece will be made from stainless steel mesh to give to illusion of an all-round speaker yet in reality both speakers and tuners and everything else will be place inside. Still in the process of working out display / function issues with buttons or screens or stuff like that. I love the idea of a minimal design so i was thinking very little feature buttons or screens, but any advice or ideas would be great. Peace

Hey Ryan that is a sick concept with stainless steel finish it will look very modern and high end. Maybe a touch screen could be the way to go if you want to keep your design simple and clean cut.Or maybe something the along the lines of an ipod where the controls and buttons don't stick out, there sort of built in plus, they look good with the stainless steel finish. good luck with it Peace Jamie.
hey ryan
pretty cool, radio and sculture in one. Who woudlnt pick that over a normal radio. I like your idea of keeping the buttons minimal. Perhaps they can even be clear and integrated into the outside finish of the sculture. Or even hidden on the internal side of the radio. Going on with what jamie said a touch screen along the thin side of the sculpture could be a practical and interesting way to operate the controls. Different colours coudl separate volume and tuning and could make the radio sculpture more eye catching.

the concept is coming along fine. Explore some different interfaces. Touchscreen is tempting, but perhaps overkill for such a potentially simple interface? I'd like to see some nice, neat, well placed dials. Happy to be proven wrong of course!
