pull-on.

this is the initial piece of a concept that came from the sculpture shown last studio (sphere out of cube). i like the idea of the radio not being visually intrusive when it is not in use hence the radio switching on only when all the speakers are extruded. the right hand speaker would also be the 'control'.. using regular turning and pushing motions.

I like that idea is inspired from another piece of artwork. I think that making the speakers move in and out of the radio is a really neat idea. One problem I have is that the volume and the tuning is both adjusted on the same speaker. I think that moving a sliding ring back and forth will probably cause the tuner to move on accident. I also don't understand how the speakers move in and out of the base of the radio. Do they all come out at the same time, or does the listener have to pull each one out individually? Just something to think about.

Hey phoebe, um I really like this concept, its quite different yet simple. The fact that the speakers are all facing in different directions gives the radio an almost surround sound quality as well. I'm not so sure about having the volume control on one of the speakers though? I was thinking maybe you could have the volume underneath the radio like a circular platform. You could also incorporate the on/off switch or speaker initiation switch into this, i.e pressing the radio down onto a surface makes the speakers pop out. On the right track though
