Final Foam Model

My design measures the smoothness of a cars surface and tels the user what state it is in and whether it would need a polish or not. The top bit is where it is held, there will be lights around the cylindrical bit. Ive tried to outline where the lights will be, but its hard to see in this photo. The bottom bit is made out of a soft material wrapped in a lint free cloth or similar so thta it doesnt scratch the paintwork. Laser is underneath. The rest of the final model will be shiny, as car enthusiasts love shiny stuff. I know i do ( *hasnt washed his car in a month*).

it looks quite neat and i could imagine that it is easy to grab on to. I do wonder if it could take a while to check the HUGE surface area of a car. Could the active area be enlarged just to save some labor? Maybe that would actually be detrimental though in terms of precision.
