went to the workshop thursday at 9am only to find it closed... and it was closed on friday too ;(
tried cutting the foam at home with a knife without much success so started building some 3d models to refine the idea.
seeing all the nice models posted here i think the next thing i will do with my piece of foam is try to make it into the one pointed by the arrow.
