Model progress shots.

This is my blue foam model from class today. I finished off some of the details this afternoon . I put in the part-lines and screen display outline with a scalpel then widened the cut with a ruler. I also cut and sanded a round knob for the front of the unit. I recessed the knob slightly then attached it with a pin so it is able to spin.

Tim I like the lighting environment in these pictures… the curvature on the main body is done pretty well. Good job on finishing it so fast + cool technique with the ruler, thanks for sharing it with us, I need all the tips and tricks I can get my hands on. Cons: The overall shape in the top picture looks wobbly and distorted (still far better than mine thou)

nice model, it shows how quick you can be with foam!

For a much nicer finish on the circular parts, try making them separately on the lathe - the edges will be nice and crisp.

Looking forward to seeing this one evolve.

Nice speedy work with your radio Tim, looking awesome.

Like the others were saying you could make the speakers rounder if you made them on the lathe. But I also reckon you could possibly make the body on the lathe too, in 3 pieces, glue them together then sand them smooth. That way the housing of the speakers would be as round as the speakers themselves.
