Making good progress on my model, basic formed has been lathed and shaped to almost the right proportions (still may need to make it slightly thinner). Details at the front such as the infrared sensor ad other circular patterns need to be carved in somehow....Suggestions on this would be nice.
A Flexible tube has been inserted in the middle so the driver can adjust for the infrared beam to meet the eyes.
Rubber will be added to the bottom to keep it fairly still on the dashboard.

Nice mate this is coming along really well. As far a making the infared camera have you considered using the milling machine to drill hole(s)? You would be able to hold it securely in there. You could probably make a convex lens on metal lathe from clear acrylic, and polish it up. Of course it will depend on the shape & size of the camera.
