consoul...by BASIC

Well, here is my hero shot advertising my radio. I kept it quite simple, primarily due to time constraints, but i think it still conveys the overall theme of the radio. A bit of Photoshop and Illustrator, along with photos.

Completed entirely in Photoshop. Just wanted to keep it simple like the product itself, i put in two images of the radio to hint at the function of switching back and forth between AM and FM. While working in photoshop i thought it would be a nice idea to have a coloured light from beneath the dial knob.

Hopefully this works, last time the photoshop image turned out a bit funny.

HERO-SHOT

Hopefully this one works... i ran the file through Adobe Reader and the highly advanced "Paint" to change the format instead of photoshop... so fingers crossed lol

lack of photoshop skillz.
so here is a hero-shot photograph showing the device in a living room
situated with familiar objects for comparisons in size, volume and
proportion.

DAMN IT

AAAAAHHHH F#*K I'M SORRY ABOUT THAT.... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED.... THE JPEG FILE HAS SOME HOW BEEN INVERTED N HALF CROPPED I'LL TRY TO UP DATE IT.... I THINK THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH USING ILLUSTRATOR THEN PLACING IT IN PHOTOSHOP TO CREATE A JPEG FILE... ITS SEEMS TO GET MASSIVELY CONFUSED..... (THE IMAGE BELOW)

REALLY REALLY FRUSTRATING!

HERO-SHOT

Hahaha how good is Photoshop and Illustrator, I probably could have gone
nuts with this but we don't really have the time... Wow Jeff and I really
set high standards... sorry about that guys lol... its all about
effective illustration and projecting the desired feel of your product. I
achieved what I set out to, which is a good thing..

Hero shot!

Well i was actually going to dress my radio up in a mini superman costume but i thought it might a bit too hilarious for the blog! Heres my radio concept presentation with a nice silouette of a lady sporting it on her wrist.

Week 06 Post

Here is my poster for the radio concept. I tried a Bang and Olufsen theme for this hero shot. I also used the bright yellow color for the body that usually creates a sporty look in such products

Starting Measurement

ok, so here are the whiteboards from the in-class brainstorm:

Also, the Measurement group work is on MUSO - please download it and read through for ideas.

Wondering what to put in your Task Clarification? These questions should get you started for ideas:

What are you going to measure?
Why would somebody need/want to know this measurement?
It what situation would this information be useful?
How has this been measured in the past?
Has it even been measured at all?
How are you going to measure it - With a unit? A scale?
What products are similar that already exist?

Remember that this project is about being inventive. We are not aiming to design electronic devices that magically just 'work', but products with more interaction, careful inputs, good human interfaces etc etc.

here is the extremely late post... all i have to say is that i hate my computer....

adis

Ok, this week is all about two things:

Starting the new project - I'll run through the brief, the learning objectives with the project, and then we'll do some group work to get started - this project requires a little more thinking at the beginning because you have the option of taking it in your own direction.

Workshop time - there will be some time for workshop access, probably 1.5 hours or so.

Blog posts were a little low last week (around 55%). Well done to those people with the initiative to post refinement drawings if they hadn't worked on their models!

Also, on the blog; remember that telling someone their work is great might be easy, but is not constructive criticism.

See you tomorrow!

Progression shot 2

There is a moderate amount of progression on my radio, not quite as much as if the workshop had been open lol, but a fair bit. I've ruled up my cutting lines, drilled my hole and bought a piece of PVC piping for the volume dial.

model progress

I knew I forgot something important last night but oh well. My model hasn't really changed that much apart from shrinking in size as I didn't measure it in earlier stages only to realise it was too big. The part line in the middle was caused by sticking two sheets together after having to go out to buy my own when the workshop was closed so the second should turn out much nicer.

Unchanged..... So far.

Hi guys,

My model remains the same as last week as i have not been able to get access to a lathe yet but comments would still be helpful as they would be just in time for me to take them into consideration before making my final model during the week. thanks guys. see you all soon

Laura

Here's my progress, I still have to finish adding the images of the speakers and the volume control ect.

Radio Mock-Up

Here is the final design for my radio. The only slight change may be the size of the speaker located at the top of the radio under the grill

final model...sorta

so this is my final but not really final model.
this is the overall shape and it slides out, i haven't added the speakers and finer details yet.
i'm redoing it because it's been damaged from being in my bag.
but for now, since the workshop has remained closed this whole entire week, this is my progress so far.
